Recycled BORDER MULCH. Surface rooting plants such as many shrubs, perennials, annuals and both soft and cane fruit take the brunt of the worst of the winter cold and summer heat. They need protection from both extremes. This mulch is made from recycled farm products. They are dense when laid on the surface of the soil, allowing water and air to permeate but protecting the roots from extreme weather conditions. They also help to keep moisture in the soil during long dry spells. The mulch should be several inches thick. Don’t take it right up to the stem of the plants. There is no need to mulch the entire bed. Just calculate where the roots are and mulch over that, plus a few extra inches. But if you do cover the entire bed you will also deter weeds and slugs. Any weeds that do make it through are easier to pull. This coir contains recycled strawberry mulch and may also contain small traces of plastic due to recycling process.
